Škoda Opens New Paint Shop Featuring 66 Robots

Škoda Auto has invested €214.5 million in a new building in its main plant in Europe. With this, the company is creating more than 650 new jobs. Škoda Auto has opened a new automotive paint shop at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav with the latest technology at their disposal. Now this plant will see around 1,68,000 car bodies be coated with paint each year.

The new plant features 66 industrial robots configured for applying the paint to the cars. Škoda employees’ workstations have been given an ergonomic design. This new building will provide one of the most cutting edge and eco-friendly facility in Europe, the company claims.

Bernhard Maier, Škoda Auto CEO, said that by opening the new car paint shop they are making their main plant in Mladá Boleslav stronger for the long term and adding to the economy too by generating numerous jobs. The plant will allow the increase in capacity and then the company can meet high customer demand efficiently, effectively and deliver on time. He further said that by creating more jobs the company has made a considerable contribution towards strengthening the Czech Republic as an automotive hub. The plant’s total annual painting capacity will be up to 812,000 vehicles now. The company is also taking numerous production steps assisted by a total of 66 robots. This use of innovative technologies will make the work stations completely ergonomic, he said.
